During the Nuremberg trials, Hermann Goring said: “Naturally, the common people don't want war ... but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.”

No one wants to quote a (real) nazi, but it says it all.

I heard that X and Facebook are full of porn? Some kids use their cell phone together in the gutter, and some don't? So why crying about Tic Toc, and not X or Facebook?

We also need to understand that any platform that is free is using us. They are influencing us, tracking us, and selling our data. We are the product.

I agree with your analysis. The last few decades is all that was needed to dumb down our youth and the now parents of ill adjusted children who have had far too much access to technology and apps that go unchecked to basically suck out their souls into twisted realities and ideologies.

I was never given this much freedom as a child or teenager, despite the lack of such technology, when I was growing up. My parents were very strict and very interested in what I was learning, listening to, and associating with so I learned right from wrong and how to spot unsafe situations, life skills. It was the same way I shepherded my children to stable and balanced individuals. The world I grew up in was not safe for the same reasons it is not safe today but in today’s world it is exponentially more dangerous and sinister. How parents miss this fact is beyond me.

Oh yes let’s ban TikTok , cause the government can’t control it. I don’t believe in banning any free speech. And for Pete’s sake don’t believe everything on social media. Research for yourself and make your own conclusions about what you read or what your told. And remember the government is no different than social media! Research what the government tells you also cause we know they lie ! Heck they are mostly lawyers and lawyers lie that’s their job.

Parents need to lead their kids and protect their kids from indoctrination. This might even mean not allowing kids to access social media like ticktock. Parents should know their kids.

Even though my son was very responsible and very wise, he didn't get a phone until high-school snd his first phone was a gab phone that only allows calls and texts. It doesn't allow access to the internet (and is cheaper).

When he got older he got an android phone because he doesn't do social media and because he is a programmer and it is handy for him to test apps he designs on his phone.

GAWD. WHAT A FUCKED UP WORLD WE ARE TRYING TO SURVIVE IN. THE DIRT GOES SO DEEP, IT SEEMS IT WOULD TAKE EONS TO EVEN MAKE A DENT WITH A CLEANUP ENDEAVOR. I GUESS ALL WE CAN DO IS START AT THE SURFACE AND WORK OUR WAY DOWNWARD, TOWARD PEELING BACK THE LAYERS OF EVIL AND CORRUPTION, WHICH GREASE THE COGS THAT KEEP THE MACHINERY RUNNING.

You don't think what the US government wants, demands and threatens tiktok owners with has anything to do with what you described? So critical of the USA gov but still buying into the "china is the more and more relevant evil" to Americans.

Is the content and moderation any differently better on fb/IG?
